The new Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Tourismo, try saying that three times fast, may be a mouthful but, the throwback wagon manages to deliver as much as its name is long.
While the last thing we thought we’d see in the same sentence is Porsche and Station Wagon, but sure enough here we are looking at the Panamera Hybrid that, while nobody will ever call it a wagon, it is what it is. The reality is that this isn’t your grand dad’s, or your dad’s for that matter, station wagon. This is a machine build for the young and young at heart. The Panamera Tourismo comes with a twin turbo charged 4.o litre V8 that pushes about five hundred and fifty horses on a non electric turbo mode and its not short on torque either as you’ll easily see over 600 pounds per square foot and it should get you to sixty in about three point two seconds and put you at the quarter mile about eleven and half seconds and will probably top out at around a hundred and ninety miles per hour – not bad for a good ‘ol station wagon. But don’t expect the world when it comes to the electric part of the performance and while not bad for a wagon, the top electric only speed will come in at around eighty seven miles per hour and you can probably get just under thirty miles on a fully charged battery.
The ride, while still awesome, is a bit cumbersome given that this bad boy comes in weighing in at about 600 pounds more when you have the electric version and and can be a bit loud when you take it out of electric mode. But once you are inside there’s no mistaking that you really are in the lap of luxury which is a Porsche trademark, but be warned that a lap dance from this beauty will set you back somewhere in the neighbourhood north of a hundred thousand dollars.
