Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet Review

Comfortable, practical and a merely outstanding performance; you wouldn’t expect anything less from Mercedes and especially not when it comes to the G650 Landaulet. It would seem as though Mercedes’ youngest member has overshadowed its predecessor and it all falls down to something we thought wasn’t possible – even more exquisite and unique structure, and loads of clever tech.

Overview

Without a doubt, the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet has proven to be one of the most comfortable and opulent SUVs on the market. As far as the market of luxury convertible Merc’s can take you, the G650 Landaulet convertible is one definitely worth sparing the money for – if you don’t mind the insane sale price! Nonetheless, for those who appreciate every little feature of an excellent SUV, there surely is a lot to look forward to from the new Mercedes-Maybach.

What’s it Like to Drive?

Being 5.35 metres in length and 2.24 metres in height, the G-Wagen travels on 22-inch wheels and boasts nearly half a metre of ground clearance – on that note, we have to say it’s actually pretty fun on the road! With that said, practically every Mercedes vehicle is capable of raising a smile at speed, but it just so happens that the latest addition to its classy convertible SUV collection surpasses every expectation an enthusiast could’ve had.

If the amount of ground clearance didn’t tempt you, perhaps its 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine might. With an acceptable top speed of 112mph, reaching 62mph in just 6 seconds, the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet is the most extravagant SUV the manufacturer has ever produced – so far.

Tony Giles of Southern Car Sales said β€˜until you actually get in the driver’s seat and take it for a spin, you’ll never really appreciate the size of this thing! It’s like navigating a yacht through Venice!’

What’s it Like on the Inside?

As you would expect from Mercedes, the fun doesn’t quite stop at the driving experience. We’ve already been there and done that, so let’s move on to what it’s like on the inside of the G650 Landaulet. Like you never imagined, separating the front passengers from those in the back, is a rectangular glass partition to allow the rear passengers some privacy – it really couldn’t be better! Comfortably fitted between both rear seats, is a large enough centre console that features foldable tables and thermal cup holders as well as two 10-inch infotainment screens – so whatever the weather, you’ve got everything you need to kick back and relax.

Owning

It’s easy to say that being the proud owner of any Mercedes is an incredible achievement, but that’s not always the case. Although, in these circumstances, the G650 Landaulet and its rather costly sale price means that owning one can be quite rare – more often than not, people demand high quality at low prices, so unfortunately, it’s not suited to every personal financial circumstance.
