25 Most Expensive Cars Ever Sold at Auction

1953 Ferrari 375 MM Spider: $9.0 million

Yet another Ferrari on this list is the 1953 Ferrari 375 MM Spider. During an auction in 2013, it sold for $9,075,000. While not quite eight figures, it is still more than the average person can afford. This vehicle was the 1954 SCAA National Champion. It had also been owned as well as commissioned and raced by Jim Kimberly, the legendary gentleman driver. It was held by just one family from 1968 to its auction in 2013.

To make the 375 MM Spider’s price seem a little more reasonable, there were only 12 of these models produced, and this is the only one with its unique pontoon fenders, which are a special “Kimberly Red.” The V12 engine delivers 340 brake horsepower, and it features a 4-speed manual gearbox.
